Cumnor Minors - Home
Oxford City Colts Under 10s 1 - Cumnor Minors Under 10s 8
First Match
OCC 1 – Cumnor Minors 2
Having previously only just been beaten by Cumnor in the away fixture earlier in the season, hopes were high that Oxford City could do better at home against last year’s league champions. The recent heavy rain had taken its toll on the Court Place Farm pitch, but with a wheelbarrow full of sand the resourceful Roger Cherry managed to make the surface fit enough for play and certainly significantly better than some other grounds on which we have played in recent weeks.
On a bitterly cold morning Oxford City started the more slowly of the two teams with Cumnor seizing the initiative and scoring two early goals. Only then did Oxford start playing and for rest of the half the match was fairly even.
After a strong half-time team talk, Oxford City started the second half with much greater determination and were arguably the better side. Their reward came with an unstoppable free kick from Bradley Rowbotham which gave the Cumnor goalkeeper no chance. Oxford City finished the match strongly with an impressive debut from Daniel Keen, but were unable to score an equaliser.

Second Match
OCC 0 – Cumnor Minors 6
After an unlucky defeat in the first match, hopes were high that Oxford City could continue their recent good form into the second game. Unfortunately the match started in a similar fashion to the first with Cumnor on top. Their early superiority was converted into four first half goals as Oxford City struggled to find any rhythm.
Despite half-time changes Oxford never really recovered from the first half onslaught. Although they dominated for a brief period early in the secon half, Cumnor always threatened on the counter attack. A converted penalty and another late goal made Cumnor comfortable winners of the second game.
The final score line of 8-1 flatters the well organised Cumnor Minors team, as at times Oxford City looked the equal of last year’s champions and hopefully as the season progresses our fortunes will improve. Many thanks to Dave Adams for refereeing and get well soon Tony.
